Traditions

Catapulted into the future,
we’re bemused by the ropes
of our own culture.
In the clink of bangles
and fogs of haldi,
you may feel like a misfit
on the steps of the temples.
In the chants of 33 crore Gods,
you may mumble verses
learnt in school and
seem like an amateur.
But isn’t it a wonder
to be able to leave
your presumed modernity
and clasp the ends
of your grandma’s
six yard sari
and get lost in
the sound of ringing bells
and incense burning.
Isn’t it a wonder,
to find yourself
in traditions you so often
do not remember.

The Search

search

the search will
never end
grab a book
and a pen
for every day
every second
will let you
uncover
a new lose end
in the eternal
mystery
in the perpetual
search of
who is it
that you are
the search will
never end
but you will find
again and again
that looking for it
is in fact
the best part
